Nutrition at The Northern Manor is simple and our daily regimen is solid and not too complex; this page is here to help assist our customers to know what our pups and dogs are absorbing for their daily health and to have a better understanding of how to feed their puppy into adulthood.

For Puppies we feed Bil-Jac Puppy Food and we recommend you feeding pups puppy food until they are between 1-2 years old depending on your veterinarian's recommendations. After they are two please adjust them gradually to Bil-Jac Select Dog Food which we feed all adults here at The Northern Manor.
You can also buy the Bil-Jac Frozen food for your dog (age does not matter just buy puppy if you are feeding your dog puppy and adult if you are feeding your dog adult food). The dogs love the frozen food too: it is found in the freezer section of the store.
Neither Siberian Huskies or Norwegian Elkhounds are Large Breed dogs. They are both considered "medium" breeds. So do not buy the Large Breed Bil-Jac dog food it is not for our breeds.
Dog Treats
For dog treats stay away from any treats with dyes; they will stain your dog's teeth and may affect their bowel movements. I feel that if you are going to feed a dog quality dog food then you want to give them the same quality for treats so our dogs mostly get Bil-Jac Liver Treats or any treat made by Bil-Jac.
For teeth cleaning I occasionally give the dogs rawhide bones: the ones that have no artificial flavoring or coloring. There are so many treats at every store; the bottom line is to make sure what you are giving your dog they are actually benefiting from it.
Dog Vitamins
All of our dogs receive a Nu-Vet Plus vitamin daily. This is an all natural supplement and it really makes a difference in our dog's and pup's overall health, appearance, and immune systems. All pups are on this product from conception of birth until they leave our kennel; we also feel that since we give every dog and puppy this vitamin daily that our buyer's should continue to give their new puppy Nu-Vet Plus. This product will keep your dog healthier during its lifetime. We recommend the Nu-Vet Plus powder for puppies; when the puppy is older you can change them to the wafer; that is what we do: we give our puppies powder and our adults wafers.
